D’banj was born in Zaria, located in Kaduna State Nigeria to Mr and Mrs Daniel Duro Oyebanjo and he also enjoyed the association of other siblings who were twins, Taiwo and Kehinde Oyebanjo. there, he studied at the Nigerian Military School and then furthered his Education at the University of Lagos where he studied Mechanical Engineering.

After the death of his brother, he was pained at heart but decided to move on, in a bid to move on D’banj took his brother’s musical instruments and decided to learn how to pay for them in memory of his dear brother.

He started learning it while schooling in Lagos but he didn’t finish his studies at the University of Lagos due to breaks that often occur, so he traveled to London in 2001 to complete the course.
