The 11th season of Miss Tourism Nigeria was held at the RushingTap Studios Lekki where the grand finale took place. Miss Joy Ebere Ekekwe beat over three hundred contestants in a fierce competition that tested the contestants in various aspects of life beyond beauty and catwalk. The competition usually starts with a virtual audition of over 300 contestants with a live interview by 8 judges. The contestants also participated in cooking competitions, speech presentations,
and character analysis before the grand finale where they were judged based on different costumes from traditional, Egyptian, creative, dinner wear, and swimsuit respectively. There was also a question and answer session on stage before a winner emerged. Miss Joy Ebere Ekekwe revealed One important lesson she learned from the Miss Tourism experience is that preparation is important. She also revealed she will use her position as 11th Miss Tourism Nigeria to empower more Nigerian Youths and permanently lift them out of poverty.
Appointment as NITDA Ambassador
The Nigeria Tourism Development Authority(NTDA) hosted and endorsed the 11th Miss Tourism Nigeria, Ebere Joy Ekekwe and endorsed her as a National Tourism Ambassador. The Director General of the NTDA, Chief Folorunsho Coker, who was present bestowed her the honor and enjoined her to continue being a good patriot to the nation, a beacon of positive influence to the youth, and to keep projecting Nigeria’s good image.
Responding to the honorable gesture, the Queen, Ebere Joy, used the opportunity to discuss her ongoing youth initiatives, and her school-to-school-tourism sensitization tours and shared ideas on what could move Nigerian tourism forward and improve the Nigerian economy.
Reigning Miss Tourism, Ebere Joy on 22nd January 2024 survived a ghastly road accident in Abuja
The crash happened along Umar Musa Yar’Adua Expressway way, popularly known as Airport Road while she was on her way to Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport to pick up her sister. the Honda car she traveled in was fatally damaged but she along with her brother escaped unhurt. The accident was claimed to have occurred when another driver parked in one direction and suddenly moved out of the wrong lane at full speed in front of Queen Ebere.
In an attempt to dodge the irresponsible vehicle, she swerved her hand off the road, jumping a barricade.
In her words “God never desert his own, the devil sent his agents to take my life and that of my brothe, but mercy said NO! “I don’t even know how to type an epistle again, my mouth is just filled with gratitude, i and my brother came out without a scratch, my car flew over some barricades, we even hit some poles before we landed with a thud causing the airbags to burst.
“The doors were jammed and I lost consciousness for some seconds and all l could hear was my brothers voice shouting “‘sis jump out, open the door” “I couldnt open the door nor jump cos I was in shock, he had to unstrap my seatbelts and pushed pushed me out. “If the devil wasnt prepared, tell me how someone will park a vehicle on an expressway in a one way mode, and just when I was close to you, you entered my front with a full speed!”
