Olamide was born on the 15^th of March 1989 in Bariga, Lagos Nigeria to the family of Pa Adedeji and his second wife Ronke Osisanya Adedeji. He had his primary and secondary school in Lagos state, and he is also a graduate of Tai Solarin University located in Aijagun, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun state where he attempted to study mass communication but dropped out due to lack of enough funds.

It was a dramatic award ceremony at the 2015 Headies on the 2nd of January 2016, two of the biggest names in the Nigerian music industry Don Jazzy and Olamide argued “Next Rated Award”. Lil Kesh whom Olamide wanted to get the award, didn’t later get it.

This angered Olamide so he stated “Iyalaya anybody” and then went off the stage throwing the microphone on the stage and storming off the venue with his crew.

Just when we thought things had ended, Don Jazzy was given a Special Recognition award and in his speech, he stated that he has never liked awards and the only reason he came for the show was to support his “children”. He also stated that he had told Reekado Banks and Korede Bello that he’d buy cars for them.

Don Jazzy ended the night with a bombshell saying “Olamide, if you want the car come and collect it”. He and the Mavin artists also angrily left the venue.
