Davido’s Early Life

Adedeji and Vero Adeleke welcomed David Adedeji Adeleke OON, popularly known as Davido, into the world on November 21, 1992, in Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States. His mother was a university lecturer, while his father is a Billionaire business entrepreneur from Nigeria. Out of his five siblings, Davido is the youngest.

He lost his mother in March 2003. His father is the CEO of Pacific Holdings and the founder-president of Adeleke University. Davido serves on his father’s company’s board of directors together with his siblings.

After attending the British International School in Lagos, Davido came back to the United States at the age of sixteen to enroll in Oakwood University’s business administration program in Alabama.

Davido’s Controversies

Over his career, Nigerian singer and record label owner Davido has been embroiled in many scandals. One of the most prominent events happened in 2023 when he shared a song video of his signee, Logos Olori, which showed guys dancing in front of a mosque, and he was accused of disrespecting Islam.

Davido was eventually compelled to take down the video due to the outcry it received from the Muslim community. In 2022, Davido got involved in yet another issue after it was alleged that he had encouraged the arrest of a University of Lagos student who had left negative comments about him on social media.
