Rema Early Life, Family, and Education.
Rema whose real name is Divine Ikubor was born May 1, 2000, in Benin City, Edo, Nigeria. He grew up in a Christian household. Rema‘s parents are the Late Justice Ikubor and Mrs.Ikubor.
His father, Justice Ikubor was a former chieftain of the People’s democratic party (PDP) and a respected figure in Benin City. He passed away in 2008 and Rema had to grow under the care of his mother.
Rema has three siblings; two sisters and one late brother. His Elder brother passed away in 2015 leaving him as the only male child in the family.
He received his Primary and secondary education at Ighile Group of Schools in Edo state Before he gained admission to study creative arts at the University of Lagos in 2022. Rema signed a contract with D’prince Jonzing World an affiliate of Mavin Records. Under Jonzing World Rema released his self-titled EP “Rema” which ranked number 1 on Apple Music Nigeria.

Rema’s latest sold-out show at the O2 Arena ignited a debate about his artistic performances’ usage of demonic images. Some concertgoers have expressed dissatisfaction with Rema’s attire and stage accessories, which they believe have Satanic overtones.
Rema entered the stage riding a horse while wearing a black robe and a red mask. He later made a second appearance, this time riding a Bat with crimson eyes. Because of these selections, as well as the overall style of the concert stage, some have concluded that Rema’s art promotes Satanism.
Although Rema has dismissed such rumors, his concert performance reignited the claims. Rema noted in a statement uploaded to his social media account that his choice of imagery was inspired by Edo culture.
